Arrival departure

How to get there
Corfu Airport is located on the east coast of the island, 6 km from the base. 
From the airport, the journey takes around 15 minutes.

Airlines at your service
Daily domestic flights with Olympic Airways and international flights with Aegean Airlines, Corfu and Aegean Airlines, Athens 
Due to the high number of flights that we manage through our agency Moorings, we are able to offer attractive rates to many destinations. Please contact your travel advisor before booking your tickets.

Formalities (Passports & Visa)
To travel to Greece, French nationals must be in possession of a valid passport or a national identity card. In the case of a One-Way, the authorities may ask you to present your rental contract indicating the port of disembarkation. 
Nationals of other countries must inquire about the formalities at the consulate of their country of origin.

IMPORTANT:  Minors must have their own or a valid identity card. 
On departure, the name on the passport or national identity card must match that of the airline ticket. Otherwise, you may be denied boarding and travel insurance will not work. It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that he is in good standing (and that the persons appearing in his file are also in good standing) with police and customs formalities.

Moorings cannot be held responsible for denied boarding for illegal documents.

Corfu Airport

Airport Transfers Airport 
transfers to the base are not included, but can be arranged upon request from your Moorings agent.
Please inform us at least 3 weeks in advance if you want a transfer.
From Corfu airport to Corfu town the journey takes around 10-15 minutes.
From Corfu airport to Gouvia marina the journey takes around 15-20 minutes.

Arrival / departure procedure
Boarding: According to your contract, you can board your boat at 3 p.m. 
Briefings: Briefing on the boat and chart briefing for your sailing area are planned for the afternoon.
All tenants of the boat must take part in the briefing. 
Disembarkation: Return to base: the time at which the boat must be returned and ready for debriefing and checks is 5:00 p.m. Disembarkation takes place the following day at 9:00 a.m.

Procedure  in case of late arrival
If you arrive outside base hours, you will find a table next to the reception, with all the useful information: location of your boat, telephone contact, available services, etc. We will also give you an emergency number. The boat's equipment will be ready for the night. Base personnel will be available the next day from 9 a.m.

Internet connection
It is possible to connect to the Internet in many places in Greece. The marina, Corfu airport and in almost every tavern there is wifi access.

Cell Phones 
The mobile phone network is well developed throughout Greece. You can use your own mobile phone after checking with your operator that Greece is included in your contract. In case of loss or theft, you can rent one on site.

Banks & Currency Exchange

Banks Your
best bet is to change your money when you arrive at the airport. 
Bank opening hours: Monday to Thursday: 8 am-2pm and Friday 8 am-1:30pm. 
Most banks have ATMs open 24 hours a day.
During your cruise, you will find banks in the center of the cities of Corfu, Gaios, Parga, Prévéza, Nidri, Lefkas, Itaque and Kefalonia.
There is a distributor outside the Marina and one in front of the Marina office.

All major credit cards are recognized and accepted in most hotels, stores, travel agencies, rental agencies and restaurants. Stickers on the windows will indicate the cards accepted.
Please note American Express cards are rarely accepted in Greece.

Traveller's checks issued by all major companies are often accepted. 
It is recommended to take cash with you.

Activities & Sports

In order to avoid traveling with an extra bag, you can use the snorkeling equipment (fins, masks and snorkels) that The Moorings has in all its bases. The equipment is on board. If you want to exchange the fins, customer service will be happy to do so, depending on the stock available. Scuba diving is subject to strict regulations in Greece. In Corfu, you also have the possibility of practicing water skiing, tennis, golf, etc.

In Corfu you can find fashion, jewelry and many other shops with a wide range of tourist items, such as gifts and souvenirs. 
Gold and silver are worked with a skill with Byzantine influences from the West. Ceramics is also very worked in Corfu, with many craftsmen.

Navigation information

Experience / qualifications required
Two sailing licenses are required per boat.

Information on marinas
It is not possible to make reservations in Greek ports. A mooring point for the passage is generally available for the night. Your passage will not always be recorded when you pass through small ports. Port authorities will sometimes ask you for the boat papers and your rental contract. Remember to collect these documents before leaving. Average prices for one night with a twelve-meter sailboat: € 7 in small ports / € 40-50 in private marinas.

Restrictions on the navigation area
Navigation is authorized only in Greek territorial waters. It is forbidden to approach the Albanian coast.

All boats are equipped with electric cables, a battery charger and 220V sockets, but unfortunately, the marinas wharves do not often have electric sockets.

Interesting visits
Take advantage of your visit to Corfu to discover all the curiosities of the island. 
The old town: In the center of town, near the old harbor, there is a beautiful Venetian quarter, with streets lined with colorful shops and many taverns. 
The Byzantine Art Museum: Rue Arseniou in the church of Antivouniotissa. 
Fortifications: Napoleon Bonaparte modified the new fort from the 16th and 17th century. The old fort was occupied by the Venetians for a long time. A "Sound and Light" is often given in different languages.
The Liston: Opposite the old fort you will discover the arcades built by the French. There you will find a variety of cafes overlooking an esplanade where traditional cricket matches are played. 
Archaeological Museum: Vraila Street at the end of the Garitsa Bay road, near Corfu Palace There are many examples of prehistoric tools and pottery on display. Open from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Every day except Monday.

Vaccination and immunization
In general, Greece does not carry a risk of contagious disease . On the date of publication, an international vaccination certificate is not compulsory.
